Coastal Surveillance Radar System

Product Feature

From 2014 to 2024, MDS collaborated with the Ocean Affairs Council’s Coast Guard Administration on the Coastal Radar System Replacement Project and the Radar Surveillance System Upgrade for Eastern, Southern, and Outlying Island Regions.

The projects primarily focused on replacing outdated equipment, while upgrading and enhancing system functionality. MDS completed the renewal of 13 command centers, 1 training center, 98 radar stations, 30 AIS stations, and 10 mobile radar vehicles.
Several radar stations and mobile radar vehicles were also integrated with EO/IR sensors, expanding multi-sensor surveillance capabilities and greatly improving system stability and overall performance.

These advancements strengthened the Coast Guard’s 24/7 real-time nationwide coastal surveillance capabilities, integrating radar data with external intelligence to establish a common situational awareness platform that enhances decision-making and operational efficiency.
